Gloucester is the main town of Gloucestershire. Bridging the gap between town and countryside, Gloucester is ideally located on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds.

If you’re a fan of keeping a busy social calendar there are dozens of events, tours and gigs on every month to cover all types of interests. Gloucester is famous for its markets, including weekly famers markets where you can buy award winning food, and the annual Christmas Market complete with ice rink. Exploring is hungry work, and luckily Gloucester has a bountiful of cafes, restaurants and historic pubs to indulge in your favourite food – or maybe discover some new ones!

Did you know some of Harry Potter was filmed in the town? Gloucester Cathedral is not only a peaceful, 900-year old place of worship but it also has a starring role on the silver screen as the set of Hogwarts. You can visit the Cathedral every day and entry is by donation.

Another great thing about Gloucester is how easy it is to get out and about, scouting new locations to spend some time in. By train, Gloucester is 45 minutes from Bristol, 40 minutes from Worcester and one hour from Cardiff. The Forest of Dean is to the west of the town, and there are many bus routes running from Gloucester to the villages in the ancient woodland. Stroud is 30 minutes away and is a quirky town full of independent shops, art galleries and festivals.
