Cancelling your TV Licence
If you have a TV Licence and are either moving student accommodation or moving elsewhere, there are a couple of options you have.
You only need one TV Licence per property, as long as you are all on the same tenancy agreement. If you are just renting a room you’ll need your own licence.
If you no longer need the TV Licence, you can cancel it via the TV Licence website. Plus, if you cancel the licence with at least one month left on it you can apply for a refund!

Remember – if you do not have a TV Licence, you cannot legally watch any live television (including streaming online) or use BBC iPlayer. You don’t want to get caught with a nasty fine, so really think about whether or not you want to cancel it.
If you are moving to a new property and need to keep your TV Licence, you can easily transfer it to your new address via the website as well:

Remember - the TV Licence covers the property, not the individual. So, you’ll need to transfer the licence every time you move.
