UWE Repair Café

Starting on Frenchay Campus from 8th October

The UWE Bristol Repair Café is back on campus from Wednesday 8 October, offering free repairs for a wide range of items including electronics, textiles, toys, glasses and other household goods. Held monthly during term time, it’s a great opportunity to get things fixed while learning new skills in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Details

  • Location: Z Block, Frenchay Campus
  • Time: 11:45–13:45
  • When: Every second Wednesday of the month (term time only)
  • Booking: Items can be booked in for repair via the event page

What to Expect

Run by students, technicians, staff and community volunteers, the Repair Café is a skill-sharing initiative that pairs less experienced repairers with more experienced ones. It’s part of the wider Bristol Repair Café movement and works closely with local partners like the Repairium at SPARKS Bristol Global Goals Centre.

Why Take Part

  • Learn practical repair skills in a supportive setting
  • Meet others interested in sustainability and circular economy
  • Help reduce waste and support UWE Bristol’s Sustainable Development Goals

Impact So Far

So far, the UWE Repair Café saw volunteers contribute 1,322 hours to repair 299 items, preventing 416kg of waste and saving 3,310kg of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to growing 55 tree seedlings for 10 years. Whether you’ve got something that needs fixing or you’re curious to learn how repairs work, the Repair Café is a welcoming space to get involved and make a difference.
