You can make moving easier by couriering your belongings between properties. This takes out the step of packing everything up, taking it back to your summer address and then moving it to your next home in September. This isn't for everyone, but it might be useful if you're an international student or aren't being picked up
If you live on Frenchay or Glenside campus, you can have your belongings picked up by a courier company and taken to a storage unit or to your next place. If you're in the city centre, it's best to check with your building owner on their policy.
(Accommodation Services cannot take any responsibility for your belongings.)
Storing your belongings:
- Check out a couple of courier companies and choose one that suits your situation and budget best. There's a couple of suggestions below.
- Book a collection date with them.
- Securely pack up your belongings so they're not damaged in transit.
- Label them as instructed by the courier company.
- Arrange for a collection by the courier company. It's best to have them collected directly from yourself before you move out. If this isn't possible then you should arrange for a friend to be there for the collection or for Accommodation Services to provide temporary access to your flat/house.
If you need Accommodation Services to provide access to your flat, email them with the following information:
- Your name and student ID
- The name of your courier driver and the courier service they work for
- They contact details (a mobile number is best)
- How many boxes they are collecting
- Where they are collecting them from.
You must not leave any boxes unattended outside of your flat. The University cannot accept liability for any possessions which are left unattended or which we are unaware of.
If the storage/courier company does not collect your belongings by your contract end date, we will have no option but to dispose of your items.
Here are a couple of companies that can help you with these services whilst living at UWE.
