We all know how important sustainability is here at UWE Bristol. We always try to donate as much as we can and are constantly looking for new avenues to explore to be more eco-friendly.
Well, we found one. Duvet donations. We launched this project in the summer of 2024, and it was a huge success. We saved over 150 duvets and pillows going in the bin. Then we saved just as many new residents some money by reselling them in the Sustainability Hub during Welcome Weekend.
How can I donate my duvet?
If you don't want to keep your duvet (and they do take up a lot of room in suitcases!) then drop it off at one of the donation stations:
- Sustainability Hub (1D015)
- Wallscourt Park Student Life Common Room
We can accept single and double duvets and pillows that are in great condition. Items must be stain-free and with their fire safety label.
It will then be heat treated so it's hygienic and packaged up (in reusable packing, of course!) for its next owner. Ready to use, ready to snooze.
Where will my duvet go?
Your duvet will then be added to the stock at the Sustainability Hub on Frenchay campus. From there, students can pay what they can (we're suggesting £5 per duvet) and take it to their new home.
This will save them money (up to £30 in some cases) and you'll be doing your bit to save the world.
