Final Inter-Hall Recycling Challenge Update

One month to go!

The Inter-hall Recycling Challenge has been running since November 2025 and will close at the end of March.

The property who recycles the highest percentage of waste correctly will win a pizza party.

With the finish line in sight, let's take a look at the leader board as it stands at the moment:

Trio of medals showing 1st, 2nd and 3rd places on a light blue background

1st place: The Hollies

2nd place: Cotswold Court

3rd place: Mendip Court

4th place: Purdown View

5th place (joint): Brecon Court, Glenside and Quantock Court

6th place: Wallscourt Park

There is only 16% difference between The Hollies in first place and Wallscourt Park in last place, so your building could still win!

Remember: we're measuring the percentage of waste recycled, not the weight. The higher the percentage of waste you recycle, the higher the chances of winning!

Tips for recycling:

  • Make sure you put the right thing in the right bin. Bins are colour coded depending on what you can put in them. These colours are the same across campus and in the main bin stores. Learn more on the UWE website.
  • Rinse out any residue before you put it in its bin. Contaminated (dirty) recycling can mean the whole bin has to go in the general waste, and all your efforts are lost.
  • Use a clear plastic bag for recycling, not black bags. If you don't have a bag, plastic/cars and paper can go straight into the bin.

This is a team effort so encourage your flatmates to recycle properly too. It doesn't too much time or effort but it has a real impact when we all do it.
