The Do's and Don'ts of Accommodation

Posted 1 week ago

POV: you've moved into your uni accommodation...

and are now getting settled in, but you can't seem to remember the rules of if you're allowed to have a full cookout in your bedroom ðŸ¤”

Here is a list of the Do's and Dont's of university- Accommodation Edition.

Do use your shared kitchen space or studio kitchenette to have your cookouts.

Don't cook in your bedroom. You're not allowed any cooking electrical appliances in your bedroom, such as a kettle, air fryer, portable hob, rice cooker, etc.

Do set some ground rules with your house/flatmates (i.e. noise levels)

Don't throw house parties that will, no doubt, get you in trouble by security and/or Accommodation Services.

Do create a house rota to divvy up the cleaning and chores.

Don't leave your dirty dishes across the shared kitchen or gone off food in the fridges- you don't want mould or maggots paying you a visit.

Do take your bins out regularly, and DO take your bins out correctly (i.e. recycling in the correct bins).

Don't leave your bins to fester and grow in the accommodation- you will be called out for it by the Accommodation Managers.

and Finally...

Do get to know your house/flatmates, get to know each other's hobbies, and get out and about as a group to explore Bristol!

Don't be a hermit in your room 24/7. Uni is all about making friends and creating memories, so put yourself out there!
