We’re here to represent your views and make your time at university the very best it can be.
Welcome to Uni life beyond studying! Of course, your studies are important, but that’s not all there is to life at UWE Bristol, and that’s where we come in. We will be here encouraging you to get involved in all the things that you enjoy, meet new friends, represent your peers and campaign for the causes you care about the most. Keep an eye on our website and socials to find lots of events and activities to get involved in.
We have over 130 sports clubs and societies that you can join. With sports clubs ranging from boxing to boating, and a huge range of societies, including academic, national faith and identity and some just for fun. It’s the perfect chance to meet like-minded students with similar interests and make new friends. Even better, if you can’t find a society that suits you, we can help you make a new one!
If you want to drive change on your course or around campus, you can represent the student voice by becoming one of our 1,000 Student Reps.
Every year, you will vote for the students that you want to lead The Students’ Union for the academic year. They work throughout the year to represent you and the student community. If you have an idea or an issue you would like to raise for discussion in the student council meetings you can speak to any of the five full-time Presidents and more than ten Part-Time & Democratic Procedure Officers.
Here is more information about the Student Council.
Liberation campaigns at The Students' Union support and fight for the rights of underrepresented groups. These include Black History Month, Trans Awareness Week, LGBT+ History Month, Women's History Month and Disability Month. During these campaigns, we run events that aim to celebrate, advocate for, and support students in liberation groups, such as panel discussions, poetry events and DJ sets.
We also organise events and projects advocating for and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students. Have a look at our Health and Wellbeing Hub to find out about the campaigns and events we host for Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Harm Reduction, Anti-Sexual Violence, Sex and Relationships and Sustainable Periods!
You can find our full calendar of events that the Students' Union host throughout the year by checking our What's On Events page, including Bower's Weekly Crafty Club (Follow @thesuatuwe@citycampusuwe to keep up to date!).
It is important to us that our campaigns are led by students, and we’ll provide you with all the support you need along the way. You can get involved in any way that you like from providing feedback on plans, attending events, or helping run and drive our campaigns. We also have a Drug and Alcohol Student Steering Group which drives our harm reduction campaigns and events. Contact SUCommunity@uwe.ac.uk to get involved.

We’re here to drive change in our student community and for the wider good, whether that’s tackling environmental issues, or driving social justice campaigns. We have lots of opportunities for you to take action and make a difference. From getting involved in our campaigns and Green Team to using our zero waste shop and bike loan scheme.
Your elected Presidents and Sustainability Officer work on issues related to sustainability and climate justice, and you can get involved too. With the Green Team, you can volunteer at our Community Garden and in local woodlands, and there are many events to get involved with throughout the year, from clothes swaps to film screenings. If you want more of a leadership role, you can apply to be part of the Sustainability Committee and run campaigns to create positive change. Contact thegreenteam@uwe.ac.uk to find out more about getting involved, or follow us on Instagram @su_uwegreenteam.
