If you’re moving out over Christmas, or looking to free up some space for all those new Christmas gifts, why not donate any clean, good-quality items that you no longer need to the UWE Sustainability Hub? Your thoughtful donations will support fellow students and help promote sustainability across campus - a win-win for everyone!
What can you donate? We welcome a range of small household and personal items, including:
- Small electricals like kettles, toasters, and lamps
- Crockery, utensils, and kitchenware
- Clothing, shoes, and bedding
Donation guidelines: To keep things safe and tidy, please ensure your donations are:
- Clean and in good condition
- Bagged securely
- Free from damage, sharp edges, or anything unsafe
Where to donate on Frenchay campus: Drop off your donations at any of these convenient locations:
- Ground floor lobby, Northavon House
- Outside the Sustainability Hub (Room 1D015)
- The Students’ Union, near reception
- Quantock Pavilion at the end of the post boxes
- Cotswold Customer Services
How the Sustainability Hub works: Our Hub is your go-to spot for pre-loved items, including crockery, clothing, small electricals, and books. It runs on a swap system - donate your items and receive tokens that you can exchange for other goods. No items to donate? No worries! Most items are available for just 20p. We also stock higher-value electronics like monitors to help students equip their spaces affordably.
Why your donations matter: By donating and swapping, you’re not just helping yourself and other students save money - you’re also making a real difference for the planet. From 1st September to 15th December 2025, the Sustainability Hub welcomed 15,000 visitors who swapped 22,000 items. This incredible effort saved 7.4 tonnes of waste from landfill and prevented 57.04 tonnes of CO₂ emissions - equivalent to a significant carbon footprint reduction - while saving students an estimated £527,200!
