Last week, in Purdown Kitchen the Student Life team hosted a laid-back event that was a huge hit with everyone involved. From 5:30- 9:30, we served up homemade tomato soup and cheese toasties and taught basic knife technique.
The tomato soup was made from scratch using fresh ingredients from UWE’s local veg and fruit stand- pairing an amazing tomato soup with golden brown, cheesy toasties made for a perfect combo.
It was a chance for people to gather, unwind and enjoy hanging out, making new friends and catching up with other friends. There was a really positive vibe throughout the night, everyone learning how to make a basic easy tomato soup, learning some basic safe knife techniques whilst chatting and it felt like a great way to take a break from all the assessments and stresses of university.
The event was a great success, the team and students had a good time putting all the food together and we were all happy to see so many people enjoy the food and atmosphere. It was a simple fun evening that reminded us how easy it is to bring people together over good food and company, and we’re already looking forwards to doing something similar soon!
Please keep updated on our Student Life Hub and check in to see when we can host another foodie’s evening!
